How to Treat Your Hair in a Healthy Way

Did you know that your hair can be healthy and clean without many chemicals? If you just follow these simple steps, your hair will be shiny and thick, as well as your wallet.

1. Eat healthy food

First of all, the hair reflects your overall health. If you eat healthy food, you and your hair will be healthy — as simple as that. You should drink a lot of water and eat raw fruits and vegetables.

2. Don’t wash your hair every day

Maybe you didn’t know this, but hair needs to be oily at least once a week. It is a natural way for hair regeneration. If you wash it too much, it will be fragile and breakable. Wash it every third day, and if you really have to do it more often, then you can do it every second day. Not more than that since it is a bad thing to do. Your hair needs its natural glow! Don’t destroy it by yourself and then try to recover it with chemicals! It is a really bad thing to do.

3. Don’t use hot water for washing

It is not a secret that hot water makes your hair dry. It also makes it brittle since it takes away its protective oils. Thus, the preferred temperature should be just a bit warmer than the body temperature.

4. Don’t tie your hair

If you really have to tie it, don’t do it too tightly since it will break. This is the last thing you want for your hair!

5. Don’t dry your hair with blow dryers

You should stop using blow dryers or hot rollers and let your hair dry in a natural way. Using these devices will make your hair drier and even brittle. If you are in a hurry, use it, but don’t let this become your habit.

6. Never brush your hair when wet

This is because your wet hair is three times weaker than normally. So, when wet, it is more likely that it will break while brushing. Hair doctors recommend towel drying first and then gently using a wide tooth comb.

7. Your hair should be trimmed regularly

What does ‘regularly’ mean in this context? Well, ‘regularly’, when referred to the hair trimming means at least every six weeks. This is necessary so that dry, split ends can be eliminated.

8. Choose your comb/brush wisely

You should avoid the usage of plastic combs to prevent possible hair breakage which can appear due to static electricity. This would be the best brushing technique: brush the ends to remove tangles and afterward take the long strokes from the roots to the ends. This will help you to adequately spread the natural hair oil and thus preventing breakage.

9. Pay special attention to the sun-damaged hair

Here is one recipe which some hair doctors recommend for sun-damaged hair. You should mix ½ cup of honey with 1-2 tbsp olive oil and 1-2 tbsp of egg yolk. This mixture should be applied on your hair for 20 minutes and then rinsed with warm water.

10. Beware of pool water

Even though the water in pools is usually clean, it is not free from chemicals. This is the reason you should think about protecting your hair before jumping into the pool. You should put a bit of conditioner on it before you swim. This is necessary to be sure that your hair will be protected from the pool water.

11. Make your own, home-made conditioner

For this purpose, you should mix eggs with yogurt and apply this mixture onto your head. It should stay there for about 10 minutes, and afterward, you should wash it off.

If your hair is dry or brittle, use egg whites to moisturize it. You can use any part of the egg or even the whole one and apply it to clean and wet hair. Wash it off with cool water after about 20 minutes. Do this once a week.

 12. Baking soda helps your hair

You should make a mixture of 3 tablespoons of baking soda and a bit of water, and after shampooing, rinse your hair with it. Don’t wash it off immediately. Let it stay for about 5 minutes before the rinse. This will help you remove the excess of shampoo and styling product from your hair.
