Learning to be able to love yourself is a process. No need to rush. But then the best time to start that process is NOW. It may be difficult at first, but bear in mind that it will all be worth it in the end, just make sure you are doing it for yourself and not because other people asked you to.
1. IMPROVING THE WAY YOU SEE YOURSELF
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see an ugly broken person who does not deserve anything good in life? Do you see a sad and lonely person who doesn’t have anyone to talk to? Well, you are obviously looking at the glass as half empty.
Changing your perspective means changing how you see yourself as a person, as a friend, as a partner or as a son/daughter. If you continue looking at yourself as a failure and always pointing out your flaws, you will never learn to actually love yourself. You can improve little by little, just by simply looking in the mirror and not pointing out every flaw you have.
Instead, look at the good points, let your inner self know that you are a wonderful person inside and out and you must tell yourself that seeing the goodness in yourself is also letting other people see how amazing you can be. Every single person in this world has something beautiful within them. Some have amazing talents, some are incredibly wise, some have the biggest hearts, and there are some who hasn’t found theirs yet. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have one, it just so happened that you haven’t found it yet. Be patient and when it’s time, you’ll realize this one special thing about you.
“What makes me special?”
Can’t think of anything? Well, let’s point out one thing. The fact that you are here reading this, makes you special.
Why? Well, you have made it this far because you are strong enough to know that you need to improve the way you see yourself. You are strong enough to believe that you actually can and that is just one of several things that proves…
You really are special!
If anyone from your past made you feel like you’re not special, well now is the time for you to prove them wrong.
NO ONE IS PERFECT SO YOU SHOULDN’T TRY SO HARD
Everyone has their own flaws, everyone makes mistakes and everyone makes the wrong decisions. But doesn’t necessarily mean a person is not good enough. It just means that they are a normal person just like everybody else.
So if you are striving for perfection all the time, try and slow that down a bit. You should know your limit. Don’t be too harsh or punish yourself whenever you fail. Instead, get up and try again. But you shouldn’t always strive for perfection, just have fun instead. Loving whatever you do makes it almost perfect because you put so much time and effort into it. Not just because you want it to be perfect.
Don’t look at your failure as a bad thing. Look at it as a good thing and accept it because it is a lesson and you must learn from it.
NEGATIVE THOUGHTS? GO AWAY!
If you are the type of person who always thinks of the worst case scenarios, well, maybe it’s time to change that kind of attitude.
You are here to try and learn to love yourself so you got to stop letting negativity get the best of you. Control it by changing your perspective towards things. If you are worried about what other people might think of you, just simply ask yourself.
Q – “What is going to happen if they judge me just by looking at me?”
A – “Well, first of all, there is a big possibility that they are not judging you because they are not looking at you and that they don’t really care because you’re a stranger to them.”
Q – “Even if they do judge me, what will they get out of it ? And most importantly, what will you get out it?”
A – “ If other people judge you and criticize you by how you look, then let’s just say that they’re not the kind of people this world needs to get rid of. There will always be people judging, but the only way to deal with them is to just shrug it all off.”
So what if they criticize you by how you look or act? As long as you are not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about.
Its all like a game, they judge you, you let it get to you, YOU LOSE. They judge you, you ignore it, THEY LOSE. Why? Because they didn’t get anything out of it. So instead of worrying about what they think, why not think of better things in your life, like what are your plans for the day or just by simply thinking of what you should eat.
Stressing out and being paranoid over something isn’t going to help you love and accept yourself.
You may say: “But it is NOT easy”
Well news flash! LIFE IS SO SHORT AND IT IS NOT EASY. If you are going to spend your time sulking and thinking of how stressed you are and how you are worthless. You are just wasting your time.
Think of all the people in the countries where there is war. Think of all the kids in the children’s hospitals hoping for a cure for their illness. Think of the people who are suffering when there is flooding and storm.
Life is short so be grateful for everything you have and for where you are now. You have spare time to read this article and you should be grateful for it.
There are a lot of people in this world who doesn’t have a choice but to suffer and most of them continue to be positive and fight for their lives. Of course, you can do the same.
You can only love yourself if you truly want to.
You can only love yourself if you know the fact that you need to change for the better.
You can only love yourself if you accept all of your flaws and that this world is not perfect.
And you can only love yourself if you choose to live your life happily. Despite of all the hardship you have and you will go through.
Loving yourself is a choice you should make. It is a choice every single one of us should make.
